I ummed and ahhed about whether I still wanted to list my monthly goals as a blog post. When I first started doing it a few years ago, it really helped, but then 2021 kinda derailed me. So I have decided to continue to do this but if I feel these posts aren't servicing me, I'll drop them.
Happy Wednesday, people! It's time for another podcast episode, and on today's show Rachel and I ask and answer: “What Are The Stages Of Writing A Book?”
If you know me, you'll be looking at that title, scratching your head and going 'You? You think there's a problem with goals?' because I love goals. I, for a long time, shared Monthly Goals and Yearly Goals. I still like goals, just as I like To-Do lists! But that doesn't mean there is not still a problem with them, or at least, a problem with how we view and approach goals... let me explain.
Last time I did this, was back in 2019 I believe. So I wanted to do it again, although I had hoped to get it done in January (but obviously that never happened).
While 2021 didn't hit the highs of 2019 for stats, it didn't do too badly either. So I decided to have a look at which blog posts people really loved.
Planning out a whole year? Am I crazy? Well, perhaps. But I like to take stock of my methods and change them if they stop working for me. Now, while monthly goals and daily tasks do work, they weren't having the effect I needed for long-term goal planning. I decided I required something more drastic. *Insert dramatic music* I needed to do "Yearly Planning".

It's not a secret that I'm not the biggest fan of social media, though I do appreciate its necessity these days. I have also been lucky enough to meet some marvellous people through social media so I try and give it the attention it deserves. However, since I'm a busy little bee most of the time, between bouts of SAD, I need to make sure I'm as efficient as possible and let's be honest, social media can become a huge time suck!
Today, the 15th November is the Day of the Imprisoned Writer. It is an international day that is recognised, annually, as a time when we shine a light on and support writers who have been imprisoned for standing up to those who attack their rights and freedoms of expression, who resist, who fight back with words, against those who would repress basic human rights. This day was first marked as the Day of the Imprisoned Writer in 1981, (the year of my birth), by PEN International Writers in Prison Committees.
Every reader I know has an ever-growing To Be Read list. With the ease of ebook publishing, now more than ever can you get your hands on cheap, easily stored books. We all joke about the mountain of books, both digital and physical, that we continue to build without reading.
