Another year, another look back on what was before we turn our gaze to what will be. Already heartsore from a vicious 2020, I thought 2021 would be somewhat of a balm after what we all went through but it didn't quite turn out like that.

I had a random epiphany recently. It started when I woke up feeling rather manic and hyperactive. During the hour my partner was away at an appointment, I got my usual chores done... then about 20 other things. (It was a really good day!) One of the things I managed to do was organise my bedside cabinet. I was just wrapping up my headphones and popping them in their zippered case, to go in the top drawer when I realised, that was dumb! Let me explain...
Last month, I passed through the first anniversary of my sister's death. That meant we had hit all the firsts - First Christmas without her, First Birthdays (hers and ours) without her etc. I was told that firsts are hard. Passing each one like a little snick against your heart. So how do I feel now?
For the last eleven months, I’ve been dealing with my late sister’s estate. I took on the role in order to ease the burden for my parents. Dealing with tragedy in the middle of a pandemic, while also being in a different country didn't make this any easier.
However, as of writing this, I have finally (I hope) completed everything that I had to. So now I want to talk about it, and also give some advice to people.
NOTE: Please remember I am in the UK and any information or advice I share is in respect to how things work in theUK and so may be different in other countries.
Normally the first Friday of the month is reserved for my monthly goals. However, there's been a distinct change in what I am doing, hence the lack of a goal blog post.
I had a "need to burn everything" moment last month. I get like that when my anxiety rides a little too high.
If you received my newsletter on Tuesday, you'll know more about this, but in short, I need to step away (mostly) from my online life and reassess where my path is taking me.
Are you a cat person? If you weren't already aware, I am very much a cat person. So today, I'm shaking things up with this a silly post that has nothing to do with writing. Enjoy!
Thought I'd do something a little different for today's post and share some photos. I take inspiration from two awesome bloggers that I follow, Clare at A Suffolk Lane and Linda at Walkin' Writin' Wit & Whimsy.
The photos they share always draw me in and I love seeing the world from different locations. As a nature lover, I get such great joy from seeing their photographs.
Today, the 15th November is the Day of the Imprisoned Writer.
It is an international day that is recognised, annually, as a time when we shine a light on and support writers who have been imprisoned for standing up to those who attack their rights and freedoms of expression, who resist, who fight back with words, against those who would repress basic human rights.
This day was first marked as the Day of the Imprisoned Writer in 1981, (the year of my birth), by PEN International Writers in Prison Committees.
Every reader I know has an ever-growing To Be Read list. With the ease of ebook publishing, now more than ever can you get your hands on cheap, easily stored books.
We all joke about the mountain of books, both digital and physical, that we continue to build without reading.
But as a writer, I want to actually read the books I have, not just collect them. After all, I want people to read MY books when they come out rather than have them languishing on someone's TBR list.
So, I needed a plan!
This wasn't the blog post I had planned to write today. But even with all my planning, sometimes I'm just taken over to do something different.
I've been thinking about this a lot over the last 10 months. The hiatus I took in May give me even more time to think about time and what we are all doing with it.
