In case you are new here, the last Friday of every month is a "Write Life" update where I discuss what I've been working on. March was not a great month as I ended up catching the flu, and then before I was 100% better, my partner came down with it. So things have been slow going.
If you tried to visit my website (outside of it popping up on Reader), you may have received a connection lost message over the last few weeks. This is also why there was no blog post last Friday. I have been doing battle and THIS is my tale!
After my last "Write Life" update in January, I felt more accountable and so I've been plugging away at my writing projects.
So, I decided that at the end of every month, I would do a Writing Update on this blog. The idea was that it would help keep me accountable and also keep me on track. Let's get started with the first update of the year!
After reading a blog post by Fantasy Author Suzanne Rogerson, where she did a Quarterly Writing Update, I loved the idea and thought I'd do one myself. As a way of keeping people updated and hold me a little more accountable. Sometimes having things written out really help.
In celebration of International Women's Day, that was on March 8th, we decided make today's topic all about female characters and asked:
"How Do You Write Female Characters?"
Once again, I was invited to take part in an Indie Authors Writing Advent Calendar run by author Katharina Gerlach. The topic for the Flash Fiction was "Dragons". After the Advent Calendar was completed in December, we were able to post our stories online on our own sites. So in my continued effort to push my comfort zone boundary, I am sharing my new Flash Fiction here on my blog. Hope you enjoy!
Okay, so I'm not the most comfortable talking about my writing projects. Now, for someone who wants to be published eventually, that needs to change. Or, I at least need to just get over it and be uncomfortable. Let's get to it.... I want to introduce you to my WIP "Dark Hart".
This flash fiction was written when I answered a request by the author, Katharina Gerlach, who wanted flash fictions were the main focus was a Tree. This was part of a Writing Advent Calendar.
