August was a little rough. Not just for goal work, but everything. We were dealing with our sick cat, so lots of vet visits, being exhausted and getting very little sleep which messed with my head and having a few too many anxiety-inducing moments.

Last Month’s Goals
You know the drill, let’s see how I did with August’s goals
1. Get all of The Blessed to my alpha reader – NOT DONE – Urgh! This was a big ol’ fail. I started off with all the will in the world but this whole month just spiralled away from me.
2. Create all Signage for Craft Fayre Stall – ALMOST DONE – I got most of this done, but I had a specific requirement in my head of what this entailed to be completed and since I haven’t laminated the signs… It’s not a completed task. Mainly because I can’t find where I’ve “safely stored” my laminator!
3. Read 2 Books (1 has to be an ebook & both need to be unread) – DONE – Actually, I read 6 books.
4. Visit Gym 3 Times a Week – ALMOST DONE – Shockingly, I actually almost managed to go to the gym 3 times a week – even on weeks when the classes were cancelled, and I just went into the gym machine/weights area and worked out. I did miss 1 time though so technically I can’t class it as a completed – just almost completed
5. Do Extensive Work on Dark Hart – PARTIALLY DONE – I added another goal in the middle of the month. Why? Because I’m crazy. I got in a great buzz for ideas regarding Dark Hart and started doing loads of it then I scatterbrained away. Story of my life
September’s Goals
Okay, let’s see what I’m tackling for this month.
1. Finish Chapters 26 – 29 of The Blessed
Writing Goal: These chapters are killing me! They are the hardest ones to write and I’m not even sure why so I want to do nothing but carve them into stone this month.
2. Relocate My Bead Drawers
Business Goal: I am going to acknowledge that the writing goal is intense and annoying me so I need to make the other goals a little easier. I have 3 sets of 44 drawers full of beads and I want them off my desk where they eat up space and mounted on the wall.
3. Read a Book I’ve Had For Over 2 Years
Reading Goal: I am getting through my TBR pile, especially those in my Kindle really well. But I have some paperbacks that have been languishing on my shelves for a while and I want to focus on some. So at least one book this month has to have been sitting waiting for 2 year+.
4. Increase Weights At The Gym
Health Goal(s): I’m currently on week 7 at the gym, and I want to make more of an effort to increase the weights I use in the class.
5. Clear Out Boxroom Cupboard
House Goal(s): One of the last places that needs to be cleared out, decluttered and organised in our house is the large boxroom cupboard. It has a mix of random decor, old pictures, tools, cat supplies and goodness knows what else.

I’m technically losing a week this month, as my partner is off work and we are going to actually spend quality time together doing some fun stuff! That means no phones, no calls from the family asking for favours and no work! I still think I can manage these goals even with a week less 😉
Happy writing & stay safe

This is interesting Ari. I really fancy your blog and what an amazing blog it is. I can see you have embedded podcasts in this blog and the monthly newsletter thing, that is very cool.
All the best😀👍
thank you
I like that your goals include more than just writing. It means that something always gets done even if you have to employ “rotational neglect”. It ensures accomplishment! I should try that.
Thanks Ivia. Yeah, if I didn’t include other non-writing goals I would definitely not get things done. I have to be super specific on my daily to do list otherwise I forget so much. 🙂
You are industrious as ever (even if you don’t think so) … I’m sorry to hear your cat is ill. You had a tough time when your other cat was ill … I hope this cat rallies back soon. A week off from everything with your partner will be perfect … you deserve it and you’ll begin anew for Autumn. I’m really over Summer and ready to head to Fall and more clear thinking with the cooler weather and its flavors and colors.
lol thanks Linda. Our elderly cat is doing okay, the meds are currently keeping him stable and we are just making him as comfortable as possible. He’s not tailing off yet, so hopefully we will have a few more years with him 🙂
Yes! Bring on Autumn, this heavy breathless heat is a nightmare, I can’t sleep with it. I want the light chill of autumn and the beautiful leaf changes 🙂
That’s good your pet will spend a few more years with you Ari. I’m ready for autumn as well – it’s been chilly here all week, so a taste of that chill and the leaves are also changing colors, partly due to the earlier drought.
Best of luck with everything, Ari!
Thank you, Andrew
You’re welcome.
