June Goals 2023

What the hell happened to May? I have been wracking my brains to figure out what I did during May and honestly, no clue!  Other than working on writing (a lot!) but other than that – it’s a blank!  The month shot through like a comet and we are now in June.

Last Month’s Goals

You know the drill, let’s see how I did with May’s goals

1. Fix the 3rd Quarter of The Blessed – DONE – Not only that but I’ve added several new scenes to my story and moved others around. It’s still not 100% but that’s what editing is for.  I’ve also started to give my alpha reader the first chapters.  🙂

2. Do Self Assessment (Taxes) – DONE – I am getting more focused on getting my taxes done early. The online system is not great and seems to take longer but at least I know they get it rather than having to post it off.

3. Work on Beta Read – DONE – I’m slower than I’d like to be, which is frustrating me, but I am working hard on keeping to the deadline I’ve been given.

4. Do yoga 3 times a week PARTIALLY DONE just haven’t managed to make it 3 times each week, so close but no dice.  But I’m trying 🙂

June’s Goals

Okay, let’s see what I’m tackling for this month.

1. Work On New Outlines

Writing Goal: I have two new stories bouncing around my head. Now, instead of crazily rushing in, I will work on getting their outlines done and ready. Plantsing is fun, but I’d like to try 100% plotting for once!

2. Go Through All Inventory

Business Goal: I’m hoping to attend a Craft Fair this year so I want to go through all my inventory and start organising what I’d like to take, what I can make and all the setup.

3. Read An eBook

Reading Goal: I often forget to charge my tablet and then take forever to go back and read any of the ebooks filling my Kindle account.

4. Complete next set of Beta Read chapters

Reading Goal: I want to try and keep on track with the beta reading so I want to complete the next set of chapters.

5. Try A New Workout Routine

Health Goal(s): I actually get workout videos on my fit bit app, which I didn’t realise, so I want to check a few out and see if any will work for me.

~ ~ ~

I’m sticking to fewer goals again, that’s because I have visitors coming to stay this month and while I am always happy to see them, as a big ol’ introvert, that much peopling really wipes me so I need like a week after they have left to recharge my batteries – so technically I’m wiping 2 weeks out of this month.

Late to the party. However, good luck with your June goals. I admire the minimalist focusing on the few goals that grow you.

    1. Thanks, Tira. I am (currently) still working on these goals after losing some time in the middle of the month to the family visiting.

It helps to reduce goals when I know I am going to be distracted for larges chunks of time – otherwise I just get disheartened when I don’t hit my goals.

Hope June has been good for you.

  2. Congrats on getting so much done last month! I think there’s something to be said for warmer weather encouraging creativity and productivity. I know lots of people love the summer months because they can spend more hours out of doors, but for me it means more time hiding from punishing heat and humidity so why not spend it outlining and plotting a story? Good luck with June!

    1. Thanks Ivia. May wasn’t too bad for our weather, but June has been sweltering (for us Brits) we are not used to heat and we have no built in air-cons or anything. It’s just desk fans pushing around warm, muggy air.

Not good when I like to do my brainstorming, plotting and outlining with note cards on the floor. Damn fan keeps blowing them away lol

    1. May was definitely a “non” month for a lot of people – it just flew. June has flow for me too, but that could be because I was stressing for a week before my visitors arrived, then they came for a week, then I needed a week and a half to decompress.

I lost a lot of time in June. :/

I hope your June was more productive for you, in terms of writing, Goldie.

      1. A little bit, yes. But there’s some uncertainty here and there and lots to stress about, and that’s not a great environment for my writing ;/ hopefully soon, though.

Awesome job with May’s goals! Good luck with June’s goals, and I hope you get the time you need to properly recharge after your visitors leave. I totally get what you mean about needing that after dealing with people.

I didn’t manage as much as I’d hoped in May, despite my goal list being very short. I mean, we made a great start on sorting things in the living room, sorting through some of the DVDs to figure out what we did and didn’t want to keep, and re-arranging a few things now we have the space to put things how we want them. But we didn’t get to finish, because things sort of ground to a halt around the middle of the month. My Mam has been in and out of the hospital, and dealing with that – including having both her dogs at one point, and now just one of them – meant I ended up just glad everyone survived to see June arrive. Honestly, though I’d like to be able to continue the de-cluttering and organizing project (even just finishing in the living room would be nice) if I can say we all survived when we reach the end of June I’m going to call it a successful month. I’d like to say, “If I can survive June with my sanity intact,” but I’m pretty sure that ship has already sailed.

    1. Sorry for the delay, Tori. I was in a massive writing blitz and then had family visiting that just derailed me, needed a lot longer to “decompress” than normal so I haven’t kept up with comments.

Sorry to hear you didn’t manage as much on your May goals list.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she is doing better now.

I truly hope June has been better for you and your family, sending good thoughts. And fingers crossed you get more decluttering time.

No worries about the slow reply. Hope the family visit was worth all the recovery time you needed afterwards.

Well, Mam is no longer in hospital at this point, but how long for is anybody’s guess, and at this point keeping things stable is the best we can hope for. She’s got the older and calmer of her dogs back in her care for the time being, and it was decided that the puppy would be re homed since she’s no longer well enough to deal with him and the person who took him (originally temporarily) when dealing with all four dogs was getting too much for us wanted him.

      2. Glad to hear your mum is no longer in hospital, and I truly hope things stay stable for as long as possible. I’m sorry the puppy had to be rehomed but glad he went somewhere good.
