The Write Life March Update

In case you are new here, the last Friday of every month is a “Write Life” update where I discuss what I’ve been working on.

March was not a great month as I ended up catching the flu, and then before I was 100% better, my partner came down with it. So things have been slow going.

The Blessed Trilogy

I managed to work through most of the manuscript, cleaning older scenes, making important notes, and fixing things that I’d been avoiding.  However, I realised that the 3rd quarter of the story is just a big mess.

To work through this, I need to dedicate a few days just to getting it sorted. It’s my “sagging middle” though it’s not exactly in the middle 🙂

I completed 2 of the 3 tasks I set for myself in March. I cleared through (a lot more than) 10 scenes, wrote questions for my alpha reader and figured out the best places for my new scenes.

I am still hoping to have the first draft finished by the end of April, but this is becoming a bit of a stretch.

What I will be working on through April

  • Fix the sagging quarter
  • Add in new scenes

The Trinity Hart Series

Dark Hart: Book 1 of the Trinity Hart Series

I didn’t actually touch Dark Hart much, but I did jump into tackling the 1000s of scenes for my Trinity Hart series (Dark Hart is book 1).  whenever I found a cluster of scenes that all came from the same storyline, I create a scrivener file and set them up. So far this is a 14 books series!

I have a lot more of this series written than I realised and managed to delete over 2000 documents that were either duplicates, scratty notes or bad scenes I didn’t want to keep or even work over.

However, being ill in March meant I never got through my monthly tasks. So they are rolling over for April.

What I will be working on through April:

  • Type up current alpha reader notes
  • Edit 5 chapters and make questions for my alpha reader

A Coming Storm

A Coming Storm over the Image of lightning

I didn’t touch Storm at all this month. However, it has been percolating in my head as I need to figure out the ending for this story before I write any more.

What I will be working on through April:

  • Figure out the ending

  1. It’s always something … well hope you get back on track again Ari. I am not doing well on Goodreads … my best reading was done with the three-day internet outage!
