July Goals 2021 | Monthly Goals

First Friday of the month, that means it’s Goal time!  Last month’s goals seemed manageable but boy were they not!  Oh well, I did complete some which was good and the ones I didn’t were mostly out of my hands.  Check below for a recap and to see what I have planned for this month.

Last Month’s Goals

Let’s look at how I got on with last month’s goals.

01 – Complete Joinery Work in my Craft Room – PARTIALLY DONE (my partner and I (mostly him) finished the joinery work in 2 of the four upstairs rooms but due to some other situations that cropped up we weren’t able to finish my Craft Room joinery)

02 – Do some Beta Reading – DONE (I managed to complete the full beta read of the story, it was great!!)

03 – Start a new Writing Schedule – PARTIALLY DONE (I haven’t started it but I have planned it out ready for when room is back in operation)

04 – Send out Newsletter(s) – NOT DONE (If you’re on my mailing list you may have noticed I missed another month, I’m so sorry. Things have been crazy and some things had to get de-prioritised. But I promise the July one will be going out along with a new Library downloadable)

05 – Read one book – DONE (after such a crappy few months, we decided to treat ourselves and visit Waterstones for some new books – as all ours are still packed away in boxes.  I read Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron)

06 – Sort my travel – PARTIALLY DONE (I sorted some but I still need to work out what requirements are needed for travel IF I’m able to go.  The UK government keep changing things right at the last minute and N.Ireland Stormant’s lockdown regulations are different from England’s so that makes things more difficult)

07 – Get my vaccine – PARTIALLY DONE (I’m booked in but it’s for early July)

This Month’s Goals

01 – Draft blog posts

I have been getting lots of blog post ideas so I want to start drafting them and getting caught up with this blog.

02 – Complete joinery on Craft Room

Since we didn’t manage this last month, I’m dropping it into this month’s goals.

03 – Implement a build-up plan for my business

With my shop being closed for almost 2 months, I am going to get hit painfully hard when I return as climbing back up the search algorithm takes time.  So I have worked out a plan for building momentum in both the shop and social media and will need to implement and analyse it the moment I re-open.

04 – Send out newsletters(s)

Yup this one is just staying on indefinitely.

05 – Read one book

With so much of the crazy house stuff done, I want to get back into a normal pattern for reading at night as a way to unwind.

06 – Move all our possession back to the house

If we can FINALLY stick to the schedule with this damn house, we should be able to bring back all our possessions that have been in storage for months.

07 – Get vaccinated

As I couldn’t get vaccinated last month as when I booked it ended up in July, I am getting this done this month.

08 – Write a review for Sunflowers Under The Moon

I was given an Advanced Reader Copy of this book for an honest review.

09 – Clear all notes from my old phone (OOT)

With things being somewhat back to normalcy, I am adding in a Monthly OOT to my goal list.  OOTs, for those who don’t know, are One Off Tasks that have been lurking on my To Do lists forever.  So I am allocating one a month to my Monthly Goals so I might actually get more of them ticked off.

I have an old phone that I want to pass on to a family member, but it won’t let me export the notes. So I need to go through, delete, sort and transfer to my new phone.

What is one thing you want to accomplish this month?

Sorry you didn’t manage to check everything off your list last month. Hope you have better luck this month. I also hope you don’t have any issues with reactions to the jab.

I’m not sure what happened to June, but I didn’t get half of what I wanted to do done last month, and I swear I blinked and the month was over. So my goal list is essentially identical to last month.

    1. Hi Tori, so sorry for the delay. I think I need a few clones of me to actually have time to do everything I need to get done otherwise things like replying to comments, emails, texts seem to fall through the cracks!

I didn’t have any serious issues with the 1st vaccine though it took my feet out from under me for about 4 days. But it was a nice break 🙂

No worries. I know how it is. Glad you just had those few days of feeling rough and that’s it. Hope things go as smoothly when it’s time for the second jab.

  2. Hello again! I’ve been actively avoiding my writing for a few months, so this month my goal is to slowly make my way back. I want to get back to my blogging and reading my favorite bloggers (like you!). I’m keeping my goals modest for now so that I can build positivity and tackle my book edits again. Wish me luck!

    1. So sorry for the delay in replying, I seem to blink and miss comments on my blog. I really need to work on that!!

In July you mentioned you had been avoiding your writing, have you managed to go back to it?

I too want to get back to regularly visiting my favourite blogs, with all these damn house issues keep popping up I can barely remember to get my own blog sorted (and checked for comments).

Hopefully I will start to scrape time back!

      How are the edits coming?

      1. I wish I could say they’re going well, but at least they’re happening. I’m still finding my feet and hope to have it done by the end of the year (and if I keep saying that, it will happen! 😉

  3. I am, yet again, amazed at what you did manage to get done! Well done! I am pleased you have been able to read – you have to have some kind of pleasurable relaxing activity in your life! I do hope you can get on with your house and that your craft room can be finished soon. All these repair/improvement jobs take so much longer than we expect. There are always snags and problems with deliveries as well as our lack of time. I am often tempted to double the time I expect the job to take so that if it is done within that time I can feel a good sense of achievement instead of frustration! 😀 My elder daughter has been double vaccinated now and my younger daughter had her first injection on Thursday. I will be so pleased when she has had her second because she might be able to start going out again and living a proper life.Take care, Ari ❤

    1. Thank you Clare, I truly appreciate your kind words.

The house issues are still on going but there has been some good progress were we can look at one room at least and go “well, that looks better” lol.

I am currently getting my 2nd vaccination at the end of this week, I’ll be glad when I’m double vaccinated as I believe it will make me feel better about going out (though I still wear my mask).

Hope you and the family are doing well.
      Blessings, Ari

      1. I am sure the vaccine will make you feel more secure, it certainly did me! We are now being told that our immunity wears off quite quickly after about five months so it will be back to square one in no time at all. I continue to wear my mask in shops and at any other gathering where I feel vulnerable. I have kept up using sanitiser whenever I can and washing my hands frequently. I am sure many of us will continue to be careful for some time (years?) after the pandemic dies down. If it ever does!

      2. Yes, I think many of us will continue these practices. I mean, they will probably help reduce flu and other illnesses that creep around throughout the year too.

I like wearing masks – whenever I get a spot, it’s always on my nose or chin so the mask covers it when I’m out! lol
