  1. I agree, this is a super episode and your sample was excellent. I am working on my blurb for the next Amanda book right now. One thing that has helped me in the past is to write the blurb before you finish the book. It can always be tweaked of course but every time I do that, it comes out better. It is by far the hardest part of putting out a book!

    1. Thanks for listening, Darlene. I like your suggestion of writing the blurb before you finish the book. And I agree it is one of the hardest parts (and I haven’t done the other parts yet… but I’m definitely avoiding the blurb part right now.)

I’m sure it gets easier with time, right? 😉

  2. When I work on blurbs, I tend to give myself a whole week to do it and write at least 4 or 5. From there I cannibalize all of them to get my blurb. The trick I learned was start with the main character, name, hint of age and at least one adjective that defines them and then use that adjective as the lens through which you describe the events in the book. It sets up its own conflict that way. Great episode!

    1. I like the idea of writing multiple. I need to try that because the few times I’ve tried to write them, it’s just one blurb that I just constantly tweak and fix and mess with until it’s just garbage.

Maybe trying several blurbs rather than constantly butchering one would be a better method. Thanks 🙂
