August Goals 2023

We are in the 3rd quarter of the year, times for more goals. Quarters are great for reminding me to look back on my actual yearly goals and keep track of myself (it doesn’t always work, my brain is quite scattered at times) but I like to try. 😀

Last Month’s Goals

You know the drill, let’s see how I did with July’s goals

1. Get all of The Blessed to my alpha reader – NOT DONE – I did not get the chapters sorted enough to give to my alpha reader. I’m okay with this as I’ve been busy this month and I’ve got some great fixes and notes to work on now.

2. Create Craft Fayre Plan – PARTIALLY DONE – I have managed to create a mostly done plan, I have price lists set up, created a list of products to make closer to the time, and prepped part of the plan.

3. Complete Beta Read – DONE – This was completed and all notes have been passed to the author.

4. Read 2 books – DONEActually, I read 3 books

5. Complete Guest Post – DONE – This was completed, it was 8 Things Not To Do When Drafting A Novel. Thanks to E.A. Whyte for inviting me to be a guest.

6. Go To Referral Scheme DONE So I pushed through my crushing anxiety, and attended the sessions. I go between 2 and 3 times a week (there are only 4 types of classes a week). As well as the specific classes in this referral scheme, we get full use of the gym at any time too.  And I’ve actually taken myself there outside of the classes and been using the equipment.

So this is a mega win… I am SO sore and tired after the workouts. But that’s way better than being sore and tired from just sitting at my desk too much.

August’s Goals

Okay, let’s see what I’m tackling for this month.

1. Get all of The Blessed to Alpha Reader

Writing Goal: Since I failed this miserably last month, it’s returning to the list. Each scene or section which needs to be written or fixed is on a Post-it note and pinned up beside me. This helps me to not get overwhelmed and I can focus on one thing at a time.

2. Create All Signage for Craft Fayre Stall

Business Goal: In November, I am attending a local Craft Fayre and I want to create re-useable signage for the items, pricing etc.

3. Read 2 Books (one must be an ebook & both must be Unread)

Reading Goal: I am falling back into the habit of re-reading books, which is fine, I love books and those I love I can read again and again. But it’s not helping me reduce my TBR pile. So I want to read 2 books and they have to be ones I’ve never read before.

4. Visit The Gym 3 Times A Week

Health Goal(s): Mostly I’ve been 2 or 3 times a week, I want to make 3 times a week the regular (with a mix of cardio and weights).

~ ~ ~

I didn’t do too bad with my July goals. August is a new quarter which always gives me a bit of a boost (don’t know why!). As always, share your own goals in the comments, I love hearing about what you are all up to as well!

  1. I go to the gym 4 times a week to keep things even. While I enjoyed doing upper and lower body mixed in on the same day, I found that splitting it up gives me more of a reason to go more often. So, I go 4 times, alternating between upper and lower body workouts. I hope you find a routine that works for you and that you enjoy it long-term.

    1. That is great! I think I’d like to eventually get up to 4 days a week with a day of just walking as well. At the moment 3 is all I can manage, I usually start with 30 mins cardio and then do some of the weight work for my upper and lower body. I find the hardest is going those workouts for the muscle groups that are the weakest because I feel so rubbish – like my shoulders cant hold anything! But I know I have to keep working on them otherwise they’ll stay that way lol

One thing Ive really noticed is just how much my focus has returned (ish) and how many more ideas I get after being at the gym. 🙂
