Have you ever hit a snag in your writing? Fallen down a plot hole you hadn't realised was there? Not sure how to get yourself out? Questions! Using questions can get you out of a lot of issues when writing.
So, how much detail do YOU put into your stories? I thought I would do a quick article about 'detail' in writing as I think it can be one of those things that gets overlooked. While we can wax lyrical in our descriptions, we can still end up missing out that extra detail.
A goal is a dream with a plan.
How are you at making plans? Sticking to them? The reason goals fail, resolutions fail is because people make them nice and vague.
That's why you need a plan and not just a goal.
This week's guest post is with Wilmar Luna, author of The Silver Ninja series. I am very pleased to have Wilmar guesting on this blog as very early on when I started The Eternal Scribbler blog, he reached out and sent me a very kind and supportive message which meant a lot. Especially as I had been struggling and was not even sure if I should keep the blog going. This will actually be a 2 parter post as Wilmar also answered some interview questions and I'll be posting them tomorrow, so do check back!
I've talked about ideas before - you may remember my post How to grow great ideas from the Muses. However, I want to discuss the invasion of story ideas.
I don't know about you, but my Muse doesn't wait until I've finished a novel before she bashes me over the head with another idea...or five.
So how do you manage to stay honest to your current story while other ideas are tantalisingly waving at you from the side-lines?
This week's guest poster is the wonderful M S Harris who discusses writing manuscripts in a language that is not your native one.
Today I'm going to talk about the Three P's of writing...and no, they aren't Pancakes, PJs and Procrastination (totally should be though, right?). The three P's are Patience, Perseverance and Professionalism. There may be more like pencils and plots but I think we will just stick to the main three. 🙂
If you are a new writer working on your first manuscript, there are some things that you should be doing now.
Here are just a few simple tips that will help you in your writing. Enjoy! 🙂
