Just 3 Writers Needed For Advent Calendar Story Train

We are so close! Just need another 3 writers for the Advent Calendar Story Train.

Also, if you have already signed up and think you may be able to write 2 stories (not just 1) please let me know in the comments. It means we can have back ups in case we don’t fill the last 3 slots and in case anyone has to pull out.

I know, you’re probably sick of seeing this same blog post pop up. But I would really love to get 24 different writers on this project if possible!

What You Need To Do

To be part of the train you will need to write a single, self-contained, flash fiction story. Connected to the theme which is LOST.

You will then be given a date in December to schedule your story to go live. Simple as that!

Interested? Sign up for the project using the Google Form below.

A Few Quick Things

  • You do not have to have written flash fiction before, first timers welcome!
  • You must have a blog* for your story to be uploaded too.
  • You must be able to commit to completing your flash fiction by the start of November at the latest (earlier is always better).
  • This is a first come first serve system. However, I will include a waitlist as last year some people were unable to continue due to extenuating circumstances.
  • December dates will be issued to people later in the year.
  • NO AI!

*kofi page, Medium, Patreon, Wattpad etc are all acceptable. The only requirement is that you need a platform to upload your story to and it must be accessible for free to the public.

Requirements & Sign Up

Please visit this Google Form, read the requirements carefully, these are listed at the top of the Google Form.

If it all sounds good, just complete the form.

Current Participants

If you have already joined this project, you should have received an email directly from me confirming you are in and sharing with you the theme of this year’s Advent Calendar Story Train.

If you have already signed up and filled in the form, your name will appear below. If you filled in the form and your name is NOT below, something went wrong, so leave a comment for on this blog post.

    1. Wonderful! Thank you so much, Cathy, for joining our Advent Train. 🙂

I know the form said participants have until October, however, since you are coming to us later in the year, you have until mid-November to write it and email it over to me 🙂

Glad to have you with us.

      1. October’s fine. I have a Germ of an idea and will start on it this weekend. I add this to my writing group prompts for October and see what they can come up with. (Maybe I can persuade someone to take part next year? They’re all very shy about sharing their work outside the group.)

      2. lol you’re doing better than I am. I picked the theme and still have no clue what to write 🙂

I would love it if you reach out to your group, I’m always happy to have a list of new people who want to join the Advent Train each year.

A lot of the current participants are ones who joined in previous years and enjoyed it.

I understand being shy, it took me forever to share any actual writing on my blog. We are all very supportive of each other here and very welcoming! 🙂

  2. Marsha Ingrao and Linda Schaub have pointed me to your challenge as I’ve posted stories on Marsha’s Stry Chat before (including one Christmas story).

You don’t specify whether stories should not have been previously published. I have one 800-word favourite, Christmas Presence, which has been published on my own blog (although it isn’t there now) and in a collection from my former writing group (which only our friends and families in the UK have read).

But if you’d rather have something new, I can think up an alternative.

I’m happy to send you a copy of Christmas Presence, if you want to read it. Just let me know where to send it via https://cathy-cade.com/contact/

    1. Hi Cathy, thanks for reaching out. I do usually prefer a new story, that way it will definitely fit with this year’s Advent Story Train theme, which is “Lost”.

Also, please note the story does NOT have to be Christmas-y or wintery. While I run it as an Advent Train, the stories only have to fit the chosen theme and not have extreme violence and no s*xual content.

If you are still happy to join the train, we would love to have you with us!

Pls complete the Google Form, all details are listed there – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1TjUkCceHQsWvrmJ1Urp6rVz3TDxWM3BLOiao44n9M10/
