April Goals 2023

March was not a great month, my partner and I contracted the flu and were bedridden for a week while another week and a half left us exhausted. So while I didn’t get all my goals completed, I’m still happy with what I managed due to how rough I’ve been.

Last Month’s Goals

You know the drill, let’s see how I did with March’s goals

1. Write 4,000 Words For The Blessed – PARTIALLY DONE – I didn’t complete this, but I was so close!  I wrote 3,973.

2. Add 10 New Items To Shop – PARTIALLY DONE – I added a few and made a lot more, I just didn’t get a chance to take photos, prep the images and sort all the listings.

3. Read 3 Books – DONE – Being ill actually helped this and I ended up reading 6 books this month. Including 4 ebooks on my tablet

4. Tidy Website Pages – NOT DONE – If you caught my Domain Battle post, you will be aware that I lost connection to my website due to a domain name issue.  Took me forever to get it back up and so I didn’t really get time to work on the pages as I didn’t want to rush it.

5. Get Better Sleep DONE Again, being ill actually helped this.  Before I got sick I had managed to set myself up to wake at a certain time, then I got ill and the first few days were bad as I had a fever but after that, I was getting a full 7-8 hours every night.

6. Go Through 2 Storage Cubes NOT DONEThis ended up slipping my mind completely at the start of the month and by the end, I didn’t have the energy to start pulling out boxes.

7. Clear Through Clothes (and household items) And Donate Items To Charity Shop – DONE – I actually did this in the first week of March.

8. Arrange More Zoom Chats With Friends – DONE – Most have been organised for April and May but they were scheduled in March 🙂

9.  Tidy Up My Spotify Playlists – NOT DONEI started this, realised it was a way bigger task than I had scheduled time for and so just dropped it. I will add it back when I can give more time.

April’s Goals

Okay, let’s see what I’m tackling for this month.

1. Fix the sagging 3rd quarter of The Blessed

Writing Goal: It’s not about word count right now as I’m already almost up to 85K, but this sagging quarter is causing a lot of issues. I want to focus on this throughout April.

2. Add 10 New Items To The Shop

Business Goal: Since I’ve already made most of the items, I want to get them listed on my shop and start adding them consistently again.

3. Read 2 Books

Reading Goal: I’m reducing this as I’m beta reading so I might not have much time to read other books.

Edit: I create my goals on the first of the month, though they get listed here on the first Friday. I actually already hit the goal…and passed it. I’ve read like 6 books (some very short already) and completed my Goodreads Challenge! lol

4. Tidy Up Website Pages

Blogging Goal: Since I failed to do this last month, I’m adding it back here.  I want to give my Menu Pages a good update and re-organise.  They are looking a little old and cluttered.

5. Do Yoga 3 Times a Week

Health Goal(s): Being ill slowed all my health goals right down.  One thing I want to do is get back into doing my yoga routine as my back has been aching again.

6. Sort Papers for Shredding

House Goal: I have so much paper I need to get shredded, this is old business accounts, duplicate scenes, old house documents and some of my sister’s papers that I no longer need to keep.  Sensitive papers need to be shredded, but our compost bin can only take so much and you’re not allowed to put shredded paper in the recycling bin as it can affect the mechanism in the bin lorry.

So I’ve arranged for a company to visit who will shred at the property. But I need to go through everything and gather it all up together.

~ ~ ~

I’m giving myself fewer goals this month, not that I think I’ll get ill again (hey you never know!) but I am still not 100% so I want to keep things easier for myself.

PS: Mariam, apologies for the delay. The blog post you requested will be uploaded next week.

Good luck with April’s goals and wow you had so much to deal with in March! 😮 I hope you are feeling much better now and things are easier for you. I had no idea shredded paper couldn’t go in the recycling? I’ve never shredded anything using a shredder just tore it up or cut it up into hundrends of pieces with by hand!

  2. That was a bad flu Ari. They had predicted a “Tripledemic” here starting around Thanksgiving: Covid/Flu/RSV virus. You got the flu the tail end of flu season. Sorry to hear it is still knocking the stuffing out of you. It is hard to stay focused and on track when you are that ill. You did great on the books – wow. I did well when I had no internet for three days after the ice storm. I’m thinking my goal of 25 books read in 2023 was a little too ambitious. Take care.

  3. Personally, I think beta reading counts too. The only disadvantage is that you won’t see it on Goodreads challenge – but you can always add the read dates retroactively. For that reason, I typicaly ask the authors I beta-read to let me know when their book is released so I can add it to my GR shelves.
I hope your April goes well – fixing one scene that falls flat can be tough enough, let alone a major section of a book.

I think you did a great job with March’s goals… Especially considering the combination of losing access to your website and being ill.

    Good luck with April’s goals.

We’re working on a big de cluttering project here. Since the start of the year we’ve gotten rid of a load of stuff we aquired that we really didn’t need, and got some of the stuff we do want to keep organized. We’d be further along in this, but we can only do so much before needing to wait for certain people to take things away. Still, the bedroom and my office/craft room are now mostly done (just a bit of organizing of things to do in both, but at least the stuff we didn’t want in there – or want at all in some cases – is gone from those rooms now). As long as we can make more progress, even if only finishing organizing those things that need it in the craft room and bedroom, I’ll be happy.
