Choosing a title is always difficult. I read somewhere that if you are stuck for a title, read through your manuscript and find a phrase that might work. Many well-known books got their titles that way. I also think it’s clever when an author uses a song title for their book title. Wally Lamb’s “She’s Come Undone” worked perfectly. (a song title of The Guess Who). There is no copywrite on titles for books or songs.
I definitely need to do this, as The Blessed, is a working title. So I need to figure out the title but also what the second and third book titles can be so they “match”. I hate choosing titles! lol
With my fantasy series, I wanted titles that referenced the three realms of Nature (land, sea, sky); the series title was a phrase I found in a book while doing research. Mystical Greenwood came to me through synonyms from the familiar phrase “Enchanted Forest,” or at least that’s how I remember it.
I’ve chosen to never reveal a title before I’m absolutely certain it won’t change.
Thanks for listening, Andrew. And that is a good way to do it, not revealing until you are sure!
You’re welcome.
