The month of February has come and gone and it’s time for me to look back on what I wanted to accomplish and what I actually MANAGED to accomplished as well as setting out March’s goals.
Actually, February was an awesomely productive month despite being massively busy with my shop. It left me a little frazzled but that’s okay, I usually take some time off at the end of March to recouperate.
Since I work for myself, it is easy to just keep working, but I’ve been making conscious efforts to book a week off every quarter to focus on self-care and to actually relax. With that in mind, there will be less goals this month.
Last Month’s Goals
Let’s look at how I got on with last month’s goals.
01 – Write 2,000 words – DONE (just)
02 – Create a Merry Writer Podcast Pinterest Board – DONE
03 – Read two books – DONE (in fact I read five books!)
04 – Complete March’s game questions – DONE
05 – Complete my sister’s taxes – DONE
06 – Book in Woodworm people – NOT DONE (my partner decided he wasn’t ready to deal with people in the house so I am moving this to March)
07 – Send out Newsletter(s) – DONE
08 – Update Newsletter Series – DONE
This Month’s Goals
01 – Sort novel notes EVERY DAY
If you get my newsletter, you will probably have seen this month’s Monthly Challenge is all about sorting novel notes. I have SO many notes for The Blessed that it’s making it hard for me to complete the manuscript. So I am going to be taking time EVERY DAY to corrall, organise (or purge) through my notes and slot relevant ones into my outline.
Rachel and I have become accountabili-buddies this month and Rachel was kind enough to create us a Writing Chart for us to both track our progress because we find it more motivating when we have a visual tracker.
02 – Do some Beta Reading
I have agreed to beta read for an awesome author, and I want to make sure I actually do it, so I’m adding it to my monthly goals.
03 – Read 1 book
I’m putting this back to 1 book, because I might not have as much time to read if I am beta reading and I’d rather make it a manageable goal.
04 – Contact Woodworm people
This is going back on the list because it had to be postponed last month.
05 – Plan more products
Despite being stupidly busy, I am going to boost my shop more, especially since Brexit is causing me a real headache and I may have to stop shipping Internationally.
06 – Send out newsletters(s)
Yup this one is just staying on indefinitely.
Well done, Ari! You have certainly worked really hard this last month! Good luck with the March goals. I can understand your partner not being ready to have work done in the house during the worst of the pandemic. We have had work done in our home during the past year and most of the time we felt fine with the care taken by the workmen to keep us all safe. We had a couple of emergency plumbing repairs done and then had the boiler serviced three weeks ago. Last summer we had the loft re-insulated and that went really well.
I am sorry you are thinking of stopping selling abroad because of Brexit. That has caused so many problems, hasn’t it? Our local doctor’s surgery are having great difficulties getting the medication they need from Europe.
Thank you Clare. Oh this Brexit thing is just awful, I’ve lost about a 3rd of my customers due to having to stop shipping to certain countries due to custom issues and mix ups they are making. Now in Northern Ireland people are so angry about Brexit they are rioting and attacking the police. *sigh* the last thing N.Ireland needs is that kind of thing again.
I’m sorry that your doctors have been struggling to get medication, that is so bad. It’s awful when these changes have such an intense impact and the people that pushed and pushed for it never considered the real ramifications!
I think it will be some time before we have recovered from the effects of Brexit. The pandemic has only made things worse, I’m afraid. I hope your business recovers eventually and you can get back into a routine.
Thank you kindly, Clare 🙂

Awesome job on your success with your February goals. Good luck with your goals for March.
Great goals, Ari! Good luck with them all 😊.
Good luck!
