How fast is this year going? I cannot believe we are already into September. We have been spending a lot of time trying to get our new house in order and it’s coming along well.
But I still slotted in goals and it’s time to look back at how I did with my goals for last month and a look ahead at this month’s new goals
Last Month’s Goals
01 – Complete a short story for an Anthology – Almost Done – Okay so, the deadline was extended which is good because I’m having issues with the ending.
02 – Plan 2 Month’s content – DONE – I actually planned this early on, before I’d made the decision to stop Monday posts. So technically I have 4 month’s content as all my Monday posts will now be moved to Fridays.
03 – Take more Photos – DONE – Not as much as I wanted to, but I did go out walking a few times and I snapped flowers, butterflies and the likes. That is always my go-to for photos.
04 – Create 8 new products – DONE
05 – Complete Business Taxes (Self Assessment) – DONE FINALLY!!!
06 – (BONUS GOAL) Go through & organise DVDs – DONE
Okay so not bad, I even threw in an extra goal partway through the month and managed to complete 5 of of 6. Including the really big one – Taxes!!
This Month’s Goals
01 – Write 9,000 words
I want to get back into regular writing, so I’m starting small with just a minimum of 300 words a day.
02 – Finish short story for Anthology
The deadline for this is partway through the month so I need to get this finished and edited before it gets passed for official editing.
03 – Write 1 month’s blog posts
Since my announcement to reduce my own posts to just Friday’s, I feel I should be able to complete the whole month’s post in a day or two. So that’s the plan.
04 – Read 2 books
I am really trying to get back into reading. It’s shocking how little I read these days!! So I have listed 10 books in my TBR list that I want to start working through over the next few months.
05 – Complete 6 Tasks
My partner and I have made a long list of tasks for our house. We have a deadline of end of October when we will be taking a well-earned break together.
So we want to get through as many of these as possible. Some of these are hefty tasks so for this month I just want to try and get through 6 of them.
06 – Social Media Plan
I ended up falling away from my social media push for my business so I need to set up my schedules, posts and start building up my presence again. I am in Xmas rush and I want to work with that.
07 – Prep for Busy Season
From October onwards my business usally gets crazy especially as I ship worldwide, so I want to get myself fully ready regarding more listings, packaging station, organised stock etc.
Congratulations on doing so well with your August goals. Hope your September goals are going well.
Thanks so much, Victoria 🙂
The most important thing about setting goals is keeping them realistic… Well done with that achievement!
Very true, thanks Kevin. Yes, I had to ease back from my 10-15 goals a month that I was originally setting. This is much more manageable 🙂
It’s probably a good idea to step back from the blog especially as the busy season picks up! Good luck on the anthology story!
Thanks 🙂 Already it has helped, without having Monday posts to worry about I’ve got 2 weeks worth of posts already written and scheduled. I never realised how much time blogging takes until I really thought about it.
Thanks so much! I am wrestling with the short story’s middle, it’s just refusing to play ball. :p
I apologize for my ignorance, but what is your business? You feel like sharing a link?
What anthology is your story for? (Theme)
Good job on the goals for last month. It seems like the break really helped you get back on track.
Fingers crossed you get the new goals done by next month.
I run a small, shop on Etsy mostly making jewellery – https://www.etsy.com/shop/blaqkat/
The anthology is a fantasy and the theme is “magic”
Thanks for your comment, I am pleased by getting through most of my goals. I didn’t think I would as this month was a nightmare as I had issues with 3 separate companies and spent so much time on the phone chasing them about issues from delivery to refunds.
Persistance is a great trait writers have (or should have), so I’m sure it came in handy with your 3 issues.
Lol it did, as did my need to fully document every phone call incl who.k spoke to, date, time and details of convo. I’m sure it made excellent reading for the complaints dept when I sent a 3 page complaint letter in lol. To be fair… I got my damn refund after I did that 😁
Hell yea!
Best of luck to you!
Thanks Andrew.
You’re welcome. 🙂
🙂 Hmm. Producing one month’s posts in a day or two (I wish you all the best with that).
And, may you accomplish the goals that you have set for yourself in the month of September.
Thanks Renard. So far I’ve managed to complete most of this month’s blog posts, especially since my guest posters have sent me their articles early. It will be even easier when I’m just having to sort 4 posts a month, rather than 8. 🙂
Good luck!
Thanks Tomas 🙂
