The Sunshine Blogger Award

I got a lovely surprise in receiving the Sunshine Blogger Award.  This award is given to creative, positive and inspiring bloggers.  So, I want to give a super shoutout to the awesome Lorraine Ambers, who is a great writer and friend.  Thank you!!  Make sure to visit her blog, it’s full of really helpful and interesting posts.

It is always wonderful to know that there are people out there who actually enjoy what I write.  Every follow, every like, every comment is truly appreciated.

So, let’s get to it!  These are the questions Lorraine gave me:

Why did you start blogging?

The short answer was to help people.  I was on an art community website called deviantArt and was asked a writing question.  My answer turned out to be quite long so I turned it into a tutorial post.

Several posts later and a lot of positive feedback and questions, I decided I wanted to put all my tutorials, tips and tricks in one place.  Hence this blog was born.

Tell me your favourite quote to live by

A writer is a split personality, putting their other selves down on paper to avoid the asylum.  I feel this really captures how I feel as a writer :p

Best book you’ve read this year?

It was a re-read (I re-read a lot of books I love).  It was The Invisible Ring by Anne Bishop

Name three things you do well

  • Write (ego much? :D)
  • Draw
  • Shoot arrows

How do you relax?

Relax?  What’s that??  I guess I have less manic moments, usually when I’m reading or watching stand-up comedy.

What is your favourite movie?

I hate this question because it suggests I have one! lol  The two movies I can watch over and over and are good at de-stressing me, are Tangled and Jumping Jack Flash.

Tell me a little bit about your hometown.

When I was growing up, my hometown lived up to its name as a shire.  However, over the years it has lost much of its greenery and been built on.  Last year, they built on the fields behind my parents house, where I grew up.  After that, it stopped feeling like home.  I consider it a “grey” place now.

If you could be any animal what would it be and why?

An octopus because they are super smart, ingenius at times and have some great defense abilities 😀

What quality do you admire most?

Understanding.  I think if people can be more understanding of each other, we’d all do better.  Many problems are often caused by a simple lack of understanding.

Whats your favourite hobby?

Writing.  It has been and always will be something I love.

And now the people I decided to nominate:

Rachel Poli

KT Daxon

Clare from A Suffolk Lane

The Awkward Brown Guy

Aurora Jean Alexander

Rebecca Alasdair

I hope you enjoyed my answers and these little glimpses into who I am.  😉  I’ll be back on Monday with another Monday Marketing post.

Have a great weekend.
Happy writing

  1. That’s so sad about your home town, I’d feel the same if they over developed my coastal town. I’m impressed that you can shoot arrows and I adore most Disney movies, Tangled is great. You’re quote is spot on too. 😀

    1. Yes I was devastating to see them destroying my hometown, destroying the places I played. ☹

Oh I loved taking up Archery it was so much fun.

  2. Congratulations on the award, Ari; I really think you deserve the title. Thank you very much for nominating me but I’m afraid I don’t accept awards (which makes me sound a real misery!). I am very grateful for your kindness.

    1. Hi Clare, that’s totally fine (and no you don’t sound like a misery!) 🙂

I don’t mind if people don’t accept, which is why I don’t specifically let the bloggers know they have been nominated. That way, they don’t feel pressured to include it in their own blog 😀

I was happy to include your blog because I find it very inspiring and your beautiful photos always make me smile 🙂

  3. Aw, thanks Ari. I must admit I’ve seen these awards floating around and haven’t paid much attention, but I’ll email a memo to myself to do this at some point – thanks for sharing and nominating!

    1. Hey man, thanks for the comment. I really like your blog, it’s very thought-provoking and you always have a positivity in the posts which I like.

Don’t feel you have to answer the questions or to put up a blog post. I don’t mind if people prefer not to, which is why I don’t specifically let the bloggers know they have been nominated.

That way, they don’t feel pressured to include it in their own blog 😀

      1. Hey – aw, thank you for your feedback, it means a lot. Glad to hear it’s thought-provoking, and interesting to note the “positivity” in there…

Yeah, I’ll be honest, running *3* blogs right now as well as trying to hustle for a job in publishing has left me a little stressed/worn-out/spreading myself thin. I always enjoy sharing more of myself (within reason!), though, so it’s definitely got me thinking!

        Happy Weds 🙂

PS. I really like you blog, and how you generally conduct yourself online, too

      2. You’re most welcome, my friend.

Oh I hear that re: spreading yourself thin. 3 blogs, damn I have plans for that but every time I think about it I’m like… err… not yet, still need to find time lol

Thank you for your kind words about my blog. Over the last year I have really tried to build it up and I’m actually happy now with how it is 😀

      3. I mean, I wouldn’t recommend it! Over time it may just naturally consolidate into one. I hope!
